Virtus
St. Mark Parish and the Diocese of Cleveland are dedicated to protecting children. The Virtus program trains adults to recognize signs that a child might be experiencing abuse somewhere in their life and how to make sure that authorities or professional help becomes involved.

Anyone works with or around children - coaches, scout leaders, helpers, staff, catechists & teachers (PSR and day school), parent volunteers, etc. - must be Virtus trained and maintain their certification. No exceptions are made to this policy.
The Steps
You must attend a training session. To see available Virtus training sessions please go to the Virtus Website click on First Time Registrant, Begin Registration Process also available is List of Sessions, select the Cleveland Diocese. You MUST register to attend a session.

New registrations for volunteers must complete a Background Check through Virtus.org. In the Virtus website log in to your account, click on the "Toolbox" tab, click on the Selection.com tab and begin the process. Must have a credit card to complete. Current volunteers with a BCI report that is 5 years or older must now renew Background check through the Virtus Website under tab “Toolbox” and go to Selection.com. Must have a credit card to complete this process.

Read and signed off on Policy for Protecting Children in Matters of Sexual Abuse Revised 2016 and turn into the Parish Office.​

Read and signed off on Standards of Conduct Revised 2016 and turn into the Parish Office.​

Filled out a St. Mark Volunteer Application and turn into the Parish Office.​
